Parent Information for Track Meets:

  • Track meets can last four or five hours on some occasions.  Contributing factors include the number of athletes participating in the meet and cooperation of the automatic timing system.  Athletes should bring a backpack that includes hat, gloves, warm sweatshirt and sweatpants, food/snacks, water/drinks, and if possible, a blanket.
  • Athletes will walk to Thunder Stadium at Bonneville High School for all home meets.
  • Students will be released early from school for meets and are responsible for missed classwork.
  • Students must ride the bus to away track meets unless otherwise arranged with the coaching staff.
  • Students must ride the bus home from away meets unless they are checked out in writing or in a direct phone call.  Athletes may only be checked out by their own parents.  Athletes may not leave with any other adult without the permission of that athlete’s parent, preferably in writing.
  • Parents are expected to remain in the stands during meets for all track events.  Parents are allowed to stand in approved areas at most field events.  Parents are expected to model excellent citizenship at all times.

*Eligibility Requirements:

Meet Eligibility:  To participate in a meet (an athlete must be academically eligible (see below) and have missed no more than one practice that week.  If you are not at school on meet day, you may not attend the meet.

Academic Eligibility:  Per district policy, athletes must have a cumulative GPA of 2.0.  We take academics seriously.  Coaches will run grades before every meet.  Ineligible students will not be allowed to participate in the meet or ride the bus. To participate you cannot have any D’s or F’s, and cumulative GPA of 2.0. This will be checked before every track meet. If you don't meet these requirements you will be ineligible for the meet that week. When your grades have improved you may participate in the next track meet.

RMMS Track received $17,600 in grants and matching funds last season (grant from Dick’s Sporting Goods and Brooks, Matching funds from District 93). We will have a throws circle with safety net on site this season, as well as a high jump pad and all accessories. Also new will be indoor hurdles, indoor starting blocks, shot puts and discuses, conditioning and training equipment, and more. We have also built a positive relationship with the Bonneville High School track program and are working together to make a smooth transition between our program and theirs.
